The word ‘Hun’ as used in this book, was the common generic term for anything belonging to the enemy. It was used in a familiar sense, rather than derogatory. Witness the fact that in the R.F.C. a hun was also a pupil at flying training school.

14 i.e. along the front line trenches where the opposing armies faced one another.
